I finally got up the nerves to see this awesome curl definition so often spoken about. I used it with a leave-in conditioner in my wet hair after wide tooth comb detangling - and wholla - I can say that this brush works very well for my hair.
I decided to detangle with the comb first because I have read that this brush may cause split ends. It's just my own precautionary measure.

Once you realize that this is for STYLING/SMOOTHING and not detangling, you'll understand why it's a 5 out of 5.
I take out every other row of bristles and it's PERFECT for defining my coils and smoothing out my hair for shiny, long lasting twist outs. staple hair tool throughout the years.

Overall, this brush is pretty great. My curls are defined, shiny and bouncy. However, there is SO MUCH SHRINKAGE! I have below shoulder length hair when straightened, and my normal 3c hair is about shoulder length. But after brushing with the Denman brush I looked like I had cut four inches off of my hair. But as long as you don't mind looking a little shorter in the length department, the Denman is a much have.

After removing three rows of bristles, I love how this brush gives my waves/curls more definition (3B/3C). However, I only gave it four stars because the handle is not ergonomically correct (hand cramps after detangling) and becomes extremely difficult to hold when using on wet/conditioned hair. At this price, Denman brushes should have padded, slip-resistant handles.

I think my hair is much too coily for this brush. I even tried modifying it like I've seen some other type 4s do, but that didn't really work. I think I need a conditioner with exceptional "slippage" to get it through my hair. I know other people love it, but I don't think I can use it. I don't like the way it disturbs my fragile curl pattern.

Love this brush, but it will pull your hair out if you are not careful. I use the Hercules Sageman combs to detangle my hair and I have a HG every time I use them. I rarely use my denman brush unless I am trying to smooth my hair into a pony tail. I rated it five stars because it is a universal brush and it will get the job done.

I like how it defines my curls and smooths the product through my hair. It is thorough when I detangle with it. I use it after I use my wide tooth comb. I would just say be gentle while using it as with any detangling tool.

This is probably one of the best things you could ever buy as a natural. It helps detangle my hair in no time! It is way better than my old comb I used to use. This is a must buy.

I detangle my hair weekly, just for the sake of not having knots, shed hair and tangles in my hair
but because my hair defines on it own pretty easily when i condition, deep condition and use a leave in, the denman, takes out all my curls so when i am detangling, i will always have a conditoner in my hair.. detangle.. wash then condition again. so my curls pop, so people who can pretty easy catch better coils and curls... this is good advice
only bad thing is that it messes up my curls.

I LOVE THIS BRUSH SO MUCH THAT I AM GOING TO ORDER THE LARGER SIZE FROM FOLICA.COM!!!!!!
I can't rave enough, this brush has changed my life in terms of detangling my hair in the shower. It's excellent and clumps my curls together perfectly. Afterward I can literally run my fingers through my hair and I've never been able to do that without lots of pain from my wide tooth comb! It's so efficient that I've noticed way less shed hair than when I use my wide tooth comb to detangle!!! LOVE IT. Additionally, it's so easy to clean!!!! I use it every day (I'm a daily co-washer), since I purchased it I haven't had one "Fairy/Sigle-Strand Knot". Now that's amazing for a coarse type 4 such as myself!!!! I highly recommend this brush for everyone!!!

I love the Denman Brush! It's just perfect. When detangling, it gets the job done. Wide tooth combs always seem to leave shed hairs behind. And those shed hairs attach to other hairs causing knots, tangles, and breakage. The Denman is thorough and pretty much gets every shed hair. I use it with LOTS of conditioner to prevent damage. I also modified the brush to fit my needs.

I love my new brush. It's replacing a 20-year-old cheap plastic brush that came with a hair dryer. It seems to reduce frizz and enhance my curls. Apparently finger-combing and scrunching wasn't distributing the products well enough.
My hair is a combination of waves and spirals, very thick (2C). I only use the brush when my hair is wet and well-coated with conditioner and other products.

I like that it works, just concerned about the potential ripping of hair. I will not use this brush often for fear of creating split ends. I suggest using this brush when you have tons of conditioner in your hair and when you have the time to be gentle.

Absolutely amazing! I have thick 3c curls that are a combination of corkscrews and waves, and experienced little to no breakage. My Denman is the only tool i use to style my hair. I recommend styling hair while wet.

Detangle my 3c fine hair with this? Funny. This tears my hair out regardless of how gentle I try to be or how much conditioner is in my hair. I do find it can be used to get curl definition which is the only reason I gave it two curls.

I rated it 4 because it works well when I'm trying to enhance my curls with a curl enhancer product in my hair. For example, when i would apply Miss Jessie's curly pudding, i would use the brush through to enhance my curls
